Smell
The Sandalford Cabernet Merlot wine has a tropical fruit salad aroma to it. Upfront on the nose, there’s a beautiful aroma of a hint of rich plum and ripe wild berries.
Taste
As you sip a glass of this wonderful vegan wine, it has a great balance in length. You can taste the flavour of dark berry and juicy plum fruit, delicious in the mouth and full of Cabernet flavours.
The taste is silky smooth, and the tannins has an earthly bite to it, but is firm and has a good finish.
The new French oak maturation of the wine definitely brings out the powerful blackberry flavours. The wine is overall excellently well balanced, with a full body and with good length.

Wine Tasting Notes
Wine tasting notes from the back of the label:
“This noble blend really defines Margaret River. Ripe berries, plums and cassis with a few leafy notes, matches with vanillin and cedar characters of new French oak maturation.
Perfect for drinking now, although medium term cellaring will add some complexity.”

Winemaker Notes
“The fruit for this wine was machine harvested during the cool of night in mid-March. After crushing the must was inoculated with selected strains of yeast and fermentation proceeded at an even pace for two weeks until dryness. The resultant wine was then drained and pressed. After MLF the wine was matured for 10 months in 20% new French oak, before blending and bottling.
COLOUR – Dark cherry red
NOSE – Red berries and dusty plums, with notes of cedar and nutmeg.
PALATE- Sweet blackberries, red currants and plums up front, opening up to reveal a mix of stewed rhubarb and marzipan with nutmeg and vanilla spices. Silky smooth, yet firm tannins add great length to the finish. This is a rich blend that will continually evolve in the glass as you enjoy every sip. Medium term cellaring will only add to the complexity.”
